Toyota officially unveiled the 2025 Tacoma earlier this month, and let me tell you, the Japanese automaker's compact truck has everything it takes to impress. What's more, we were delighted to see that the six-speed manual transmission is still part of the lineup, which will surely please fans of the model.
The 2025 Toyota Tacoma is one of the rare vehicles offering a manual transmission this year. In fact, it's the only pickup truck sold in North America with this option, which is quite unfortunate. Jeep recently announced that the Gladiator will no longer offer a manual transmission.
Multiple Configurations Available
The first thing that stands out when looking at the 2025 Toyota Tacoma lineup is the number of configurations available before even discussing options. The gasoline-powered manual version starts at $52,700.50, with two configurations to choose from. For the automatic gasoline version, you can select from six different trims, with prices ranging between $51,121.50 and $62,957.50. These versions are equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque with the manual transmission, or 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque with the automatic.
Finally, there's the hybrid version. This model starts at $67,541.50, with four configuration options. The most expensive version costs $87,540.50, which is quite steep, in my opinion. However, loyal fans of the Japanese pickup will argue otherwise, insisting it's worth every penny. Mechanically, it uses the same 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the other versions but adds an electric motor to the mix. The total output is 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. What makes this version even more appealing is its fuel economy, with an average of 10.3 L/100 km in the city and 9.2 L/100 km for the most fuel-efficient configurations. However, I believe the price remains excessive for some versions, especially for a mid-size truck.
